AppLimit Privacy Policy

ButterFalcon ("we," "our," or "us") sets out this Privacy Policy to explain how user data is handled in the AppLimit mobile application (the "App").

1. Data Handled by the App

1.1 Data Handled on Your Device

To provide app usage management, limits, schedules, downtime, and focus timers, the App accesses and generally stores the following data only on your device:

  • Names, icons, and package identifiers of installed apps
  • App usage dates, times, durations, and the package identifier of the app currently in the foreground
  • Usage limits, schedules, downtime, focus timers, profiles, and related settings you create
  • Your in-app passcode and configuration state

On Android, the App uses Usage Access permission and an Accessibility Service solely to identify the app currently in use and apply limits you have configured. The Accessibility Service does not collect text you enter, messages, passwords, screen contents, or other content within apps.

This on-device data, including individual app usage history and package identifiers, is not sent to Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or RevenueCat.

1.2 Data Collected or Processed by Us and Our Service Providers

  • Usage analytics: Through Firebase Analytics, provided by Google LLC, we process events such as screen views, feature use, permission results, language, purchase events, coarse ranges of the number of configured limits, and premium status. Firebase may also process app version, device type, OS version, Firebase installation identifiers, and approximate region derived from an IP address. We do not collect advertising IDs or set a name, email address, or other ID that directly identifies you in Analytics.
  • Crash diagnostics: Through Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google LLC, we process crashes and non-fatal errors, stack traces, timestamps, app version, device model, OS, memory and storage diagnostics, Firebase installation identifiers, and Crashlytics installation identifiers.
  • Purchases and subscriptions: Through RevenueCat, Inc., we process an anonymous App User ID, product IDs, purchase receipts and transaction information, purchase history, and subscription status. Apple or Google processes payments; we do not receive your credit card or bank account number.
  • Support inquiries: We process information you voluntarily provide when contacting us, such as your name, email address, order number, inquiry details, and attachments.

The App does not provide user account creation or sign-in.

2. Purposes of Processing

We use the data described above to:

  • Provide the App's core features and apply app usage limits you configure
  • Verify purchases and provide or restore paid features
  • Investigate defects, analyze crashes, and improve quality and usability
  • Respond to inquiries and provide support
  • Prevent misuse, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations

We do not sell user data or use or share it for third-party targeted advertising.

3. Service Providers and Disclosure

We engage the following service providers to process data only as necessary for the purposes above:

We may also disclose data with your consent, when required by law, or when necessary to protect a person's life, physical safety, or property and obtaining consent is impracticable.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

  • On-device app usage history: On Android, detailed hourly usage history stored by the App is retained for 35 days and data older than 35 days is automatically deleted. Retention of usage data held by the operating system itself is governed by the relevant operating system.
  • On-device settings: Usage limits, schedules, downtime, focus timers, profiles, and passcodes are retained until you reset or delete them in the App, erase the App's data through device settings, or uninstall the App. Some data stored in operating-system-protected storage is managed according to the operating system's behavior.
  • Firebase Analytics: Event-level and user-level analytics data is configured to be retained for two months. Aggregated statistics that do not identify an individual may be retained longer for service improvement.
  • Firebase Crashlytics: Crash reports, related diagnostic data, and associated identifiers are retained for 90 days before Firebase begins removing them from its live and backup systems.
  • RevenueCat: Purchase and subscription data is retained while needed to provide and restore purchase status and until a verified deletion request is completed. After a deletion request, we delete the relevant user data from RevenueCat. Transaction records that Apple, Google, or applicable law requires to be retained may remain for the period specified by those parties or laws.
  • Support inquiries: Personal data in support inquiries is retained for up to one year after the inquiry is resolved and is then deleted. We may retain the minimum necessary data for longer when required for disputes, security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

After deletion begins, complete removal from backups may take additional time based on each service provider's ordinary backup cycle.

5. Your Deletion Options and Rights

The App does not create user accounts. You can delete on-device data using the relevant delete or reset features in the App, your device's "clear storage" feature, or by uninstalling the App.

To request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or exercise another right available under applicable law for data held by us or our service providers, contact us using the details below. We may ask for information that allows us to identify the relevant purchase, such as a Google Play order number. After verification, we will respond within a reasonable period and delete the data unless its retention is required by law.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encryption in transit, access restrictions, data minimization, and disabling advertising identifiers. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage can, however, be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. International Processing

Because we use Firebase and RevenueCat, data may be processed outside your country of residence, including in the United States. We use safeguards required by applicable law and our agreements with these service providers.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that such data has been collected, we will take reasonable steps to delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Policy in response to changes in law, the App, or our data practices. We will notify users of material changes in the App or on our website. The revised Policy takes effect when posted on this page.
